Introduction
 Asthma is a lower respiratory tract disorder.
 Asthma, also called pulmonary obstructive disease
 Reactive airway disease.
 Asthma is a disorder of the bronchial airway.

Definition
 Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airway that is
caused by the allergic response of bronchi.
 Asthma is a reversible and intermittent obstructive airway in which
trachea and bronchi respond in hyperactive to certain stimuli.

Types of asthma
1. Extrinsic Asthma
2. Intrinsic Asthma

1. Extrinsic Asthma
 Also known as allergic asthma.
 Commonly occurs in childhood.
 The prognosis is good.

2. Intrinsic Asthma
 Also known as non-allergy asthma.
